Performances

Dance | Science Fest started with the ambition to work with dancers to investigate and perform the parallel practices of dance and science. Our first production was a year-long effort with Weber State University’s Moving Company to create and perform “A Body in Motion” and, later with a smaller ensemble, “Forces At Play.” These pieces toured around the state and hosted shows at Weber State for local schools as well as the general public. We created a guide for this in addition to shared prompts and ideas that it created in our own heads.

A collection of video of these performances is now available on this video channel.

The work continued to develop into workshops that we’ve done with schools, teachers, dance educators, and science teacher educators. And from this we’ve continued to think about how the dance|science intersection and parallels play out. We try to relay this in our workshops, but we also wanted to create a presentation that helped elevate these ideas.
